The average person has boxes upon boxes of things that they have held onto for years just in case they might be needed. But will you really need to take all of those things with you to your property in Egypt?

Moving abroad to Egypt properties can be a great opportunity to reduce your clutter and streamline your possessions. Moving things takes time, effort, and money so you should only transport the things that you really need to your new property in Egypt. There is no use paying to ship boxes to Egypt, which you will never even open when they get there and simply shove into a storage space.

Storage Space Issues

Your new real estate in Egypt might have a lot less storage space than you are used to, and therefore you will likely not have the room to store all of the boxes and things that you have gathered over the years. If you can cut down your clutter, it will be able to fit into your new home. Once you have cut it down that much, why not get rid of just a little bit more, so that you have some room for if you acquire new possessions after you have moved to Egypt.

Don’t Be Too Sentimental

For this process, you must first get yourself in the right mind-set and eliminate all nostalgia and sentimentalism. Many people will hold onto just about anything because it evokes a memory of the past. Of course it’s fine to save a few favourite children’s drawings, and photograph albums, but you might not want to throw out that old toaster because it was the first toaster that you and your partner bought when you moved in together. However, the toaster is 10 years old, doesn’t work anymore, and you have a new one anyways. Throw it out! Just remember that you are throwing out the toaster, and not the memory of the relationship, because that will stay with you forever whether or not you are in possession of a defunct kitchen appliance.

Sell, Throw, or Donate

When sorting out your possessions, divide them into three groups: stuff that is working and in good condition that you could sell in a yard sale, something that you could donate to a shelter or thrift shop, or broken, damaged, or worthless stuff that you can recycle or throw away. Remember, sometimes it is more expensive to ship an item than it would be to buy a new one once you get to Egypt, so keep this in mind.

Many people find that when they relocate to Egypt properties, the less they try to move with them, the less hassle and stress they have to deal with. Make your move simple by reducing your possessions and you will soon be enjoying your new life in Egypt!
