Greece is a country with an ancient history and rich traditions. It is a favourite holiday destination for travellers from around the globe, and many people who have visited the country have decided to purchase Greece properties as a way to have a little piece of paradise all their own.

The allure of owning property in Greece is easy to see. Greece has nearly year-round sunshine and blue skies, and on the coastal areas and islands, you have a lovely cooling breeze as well. Pensioners and holidaymakers flock to these areas, although the inland, mountainous areas are also attracting the attention of those who wish to be away from the crowds that can sometimes arrive at the coast. Athens, of course, is always a huge draw, with its vast array of activities and attractions. Nightclubs, tavernas, discos, and shopping in unique local stores are all part of the draw of city life. The international airport in Athens makes travel to other locations a snap, and Athens has all the high-tech amenities that modern life demands.

Greece also has every type of property imaginable. For those who want rustic charm, there are beautiful old stone homes, and they can be purchased in turnkey condition or as a ‘fix-up’. Taking a home that has ‘good bones’ and a great location but is in need of repair can offer a wonderful opportunity to create the home or villa you have always dreamed of. Some property for sale in Greece can be had at an excellent price, and even when factoring the cost of the renovation you will come out with a property worth much more than what you have put into it.

Properties on an island or near the coast have obvious advantages as well. If you are not planning to relocate or retire to Greece, and will only be at your property part-time, a location on or near the water can be let to provide ongoing income. Waterside properties are always in demand and a steady stream of holidaymakers or even corporate relocation clients can offset all or most of the cost of your property ownership. In addition, depending on your country of primary residence, there may be other advantages, such as tax savings, that may be available to you.

Greece has an excellent healthcare system and almost every type of fresh food available. The Grecian people are almost unfailingly warm and helpful and enjoy stopping to chat or provide advice or directions. Nearly everyone who visits the country wants to return. With mortgages at near-record lows, a buyer can find a property at a good discount and finance it at an exceptional interest rate. That makes finding the perfect retirement or holiday property an even more enticing option.

After all, who would not want to retire to a low-cost destination with sunshine, warm weather, and cool ocean breezes? Being able to do all that at a low cost so you can truly enjoy all that Greece has to offer makes it the perfect choice.
